July 12: The Telegraph report by Ben Farmer states that scores of party activists faithful to the ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif were arrested in night raids ahead of his return to Pakistan and a showdown with the country's security officials and judiciary. More than 100 people were arrested in his stronghold of Lahore where he has called on crowds to meet him when he touches down from London on Friday evening.
